‘Taonga Vaka’

'Taonga Vaka' is a collection of workshops, performances, and Pasifika-focused initiatives, which allow for attendees to engage in cultural exchange and education around Pasifika traditions. Through the mediums of song, dance, and craft, it offers a welcoming platform for communities to unite, celebrate their heritage, and share their traditions with visitors from beyond Auckland and across the globe.

‘Taonga vaka’ - Community Outreach Series

  • Pasifika Youth Internship

The Pacific Festival of Brass Internship Program aims to offer valuable learning experiences for young Pasifika in arts administration and foster professional development for Pasifika individuals seeking mentorship. It strives to enhance skills, facilitate growth, and cultivate connections within the Pacific and broader arts community. Follow the link below to learn more about our festival interns.

  • Brass Canvas Art Competition

The Brass Canvas Competition aims to showcase the artistic talents of young Pasifika individuals within the Manurewa local board area. Through collaboration with three partnering schools, we aspire to illuminate the creativity and potential of our youth in Manurewa. You can view this exhibition at the AIA Foyer (just outside the BNZ Theatre).

  • Workshops and Masterclasses

The workshops and masterclasses we've organised serve as an extension of the national contest, aiming to foster community engagement beyond the competitive arena. Our goal is for attendees, and perhaps even participants, to immerse themselves in Auckland's crafts, culture, and sense of community during these sessions. Follow the link below to learn more.

Our website will undergo continuous updates and changes leading up to July, ensuring current and relevant information for participants and attendees.
