Meet Our Judges
The Pacific Festival of Brass is honoured to have Dr. Brett Baker and Lieutenant Commander Michael Dorwick adjudicating this year’s contest.

Brett Baker, an acclaimed brass performer and educator, holds an esteemed reputation internationally. With roles spanning from Principal Trombone of the Black Dyke Band to consulting for Michael Rath Brass Instruments, he's a driving force in the brass community. Brett's extensive career includes conducting, adjudicating, and tutoring across the globe. His contributions have been recognized with the ITA Presidents Award in 2020, solidifying his impact on the international brass scene.

Michael, born in Cornwall, UK, hails from a lineage deeply rooted in brass bands. His career spans the Royal Marines Band Service, where he attained the rank of Major, to prestigious roles in music education and performance. With degrees from esteemed institutions, including the Royal Northern College of Music, he's conducted renowned ensembles worldwide. Notably, as Music Director of the Band of the South Australia Police and later the Royal New Zealand Navy, his impact on the international brass community is profound.
